A minibar is dozens of small dated products spread across hundreds of rooms, checked by someone with forty other doors to knock on. Dates live on the backs of wrappers. Holds and allergy notes live in messages that may not get forwarded to all that need to know. The stock that never sells is the stock that quietly goes over, and the first person to notice is the one paying for the room. Or worse: the brand's incognito inspector, in the room precisely to look, for whom one expired wrapper in a drawer is points off an audit the whole property answers for.

Every item, every room, one glance. Shelf life is applied automatically on restock. Items move from fine, to check, to pull, so the trolley round starts with a list instead of a hunt, and the drawer is ready for whoever opens it next, guest or inspector.

DAY ONE

Useful from the first shift. There is no big-bang audit. Nobody tours every room writing down every date before the system earns its keep: the picture builds itself through normal restocks, and the app is giving answers from start-up.

SCAN

Restock counted from one photo. Photograph the open drawer and Expirata counts what is present against the standard contents, proposing the restock for you to confirm or correct. Photos are processed and discarded, never stored. Or, you can do it all manually.

HOLDS

Allergen safety that cannot be forgotten. Place a hold on anything from a single product to a whole drawer, by hand or by any of the fourteen declared allergens. Held items are suppressed everywhere, scan, restock and daily lists alike, until the room is deliberately restored. No more charging guests for products they didn't consume. No more restocking products guests are allergic to because of gaps in communication.

DISCIPLINE

Restocks gated on day status. A restock cannot be confirmed until the room is marked departure or stay-over, so the record of who left and what moved is complete by construction, not by memory.

ALCOHOL

Audit assist that does what it says. Every alcohol draw from central store is logged against stocking in rooms. Come audit day the record is already written, and a large, conspicuous gap has nowhere to hide.

NUMBERS

Stats you can act on. Sales by product and daily movement for drinks and snacks, with weekday, weekend and bank holiday patterns marked on every chart. Dead stock shows up as a short bar, not a surprise write-off, and everything logged exports to CSV, so your data is always yours to take elsewhere.

LIFT

Baskets, not just bar charts. The Bought Together view scores which items get replaced in the same room visit, ranked by lift: how many times more likely than chance. When the guests who take the gin prove twice as likely to take the tonic and the sparkling water, the answer is to shelve all three together. And it will tell you, plainly, when there is not yet enough data to trust a pattern.

Expirata comes from a scientist with decades of experience in analytical science who has also worked directly in in-room amenity operations, and kept hitting the same problem: checking best before dates took far longer than replacing anything. Most of the time isn't spent fixing problems, it's spent looking for them, and that's exactly the job a photograph can do in seconds. The record built to solve that turned out to lend itself readily to something more: real analysis of real consumption data.
